Mobile Market Taxila and Wah Cantt 2026: Used Phones and PTA Checks

Nearest published phone shop: Wah Cantt

Airlink Communication's where-to-buy page (page last modified 27 March 2026, checked 4 October 2026) lists no Taxila partner. It lists one in Wah Cantt, for the brands it distributes, including Samsung, Xiaomi, Tecno and itel.

• Orange Mobile, Izzat Ali Shah Market, Wah Cantt

Going to Rawalpindi for more choice

For a wider choice of brand new, open box and second hand phones, Taxila buyers go to Rawalpindi Saddar. Singapore Plaza, on Bank Road, says it has about 450 shops. Islamabad's Blue Area and Centaurus are the alternatives if you want a mall bill. Tecno, Infinix and itel service (Carlcare) is listed in Rawalpindi, not Taxila.

Stolen phone check: e-Gadget in Rawalpindi district

Punjab Police's e-Gadget app, developed with the Punjab Information Technology Board and available on Android and iOS, lets you enter an IMEI to see whether it has been reported stolen or lost. Run it on any second hand phone, along with the 8484 check.

Do not assume a shop has checked for you. Dawn reported on 4 December 2023 that Rawalpindi's city police officer said more than 4,500 mobile phone shops were registered in the district, but fewer than 100 had the e-Gadget monitoring system.

PTA check before you buy a phone in Taxila

Check PTA status before you pay, not after.

Dial *#06# on the phone, match that IMEI to the box and the bill, then send the IMEI by SMS to 8484 before any money changes hands. The PTA status guide explains each reply. The News reported on 10 May 2024 that smuggled phones are 'patched' with duplicated or cloned IMEIs to get past PTA's DIRBS system, that patching is illegal under PECA 2016, and that PTA had blocked 35 million IMEIs by 30 December 2023. A patched phone can work today and be blocked later.

If a phone is non-PTA and you plan to register it yourself, look up the FBR amount in the PTA tax guide before you agree a price.

• Ask in plain words: PTA approved, non-PTA, or patched?
• Get a bill, or for a private sale a written note, with the IMEI, the price, the date and the seller's phone number.
• Put your own SIM in and make a call before you leave.
• For a second hand phone, test the screen, cameras, speakers, charging port and battery; the inspection guide has a checklist.

What we could not verify

We did not find official market timings, closed days, or a list of Taxila phone shops on a brand, distributor, government or major news page. We have not copied shop names from map or directory sites, and we do not print market prices we cannot source.

Is there a mobile market in Taxila?

We could not find a published source naming one. The nearest shop on a distributor's list is Orange Mobile in Izzat Ali Shah Market, Wah Cantt, and Rawalpindi Saddar is the nearest big market.

Where should I buy a second hand phone near Taxila?

Compare sellers in Taxila and Wah Cantt, or go to Rawalpindi Saddar for more counters. Check the IMEI with 8484 and e-Gadget either way.

Where can I get a Tecno or Infinix repaired near Taxila?

Carlcare lists Rawalpindi in its service-centre finder, not Taxila.

Do Rawalpindi district phone shops check e-Gadget for me?

Do not count on it. In December 2023 Rawalpindi police said fewer than 100 of more than 4,500 registered phone shops in the district had the e-Gadget system. Check the IMEI yourself.
